A native of New Jersey, Catie Purrazzella who is Deaf and uses American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate with others, joined Disability & Access Services in May 2018 as the Coordinator of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. In her role, Catie manages communication access and other accommodations for deaf and hard of hearing students, staff, faculty and guests. Catie experienced utilizing disability services as an undergraduate and graduate student at other higher education institutions. Catie gained her passion for communication access advocacy when she worked for the New Jersey Division for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. There, she provided statewide case management services and advocated and coordinated for communication access. She also served on committees and tasks forces that focused on bridging gaps in access to services for deaf and hard of hearing individuals in New Jersey. In her spare time, Catie is an avid runner. She also enjoys playing softball, traveling, and the outdoors with her partner Misty and their fur dogs Lulu and Cooper, and cats, Sky, Pasta and Tortellini.
