Head & Neck Cancer Symposium Proceedings Published

The proceedings of the first annual Head & Neck Cancer Symposium, which took place at Boston University in April 2014, were published in the December 2014 issue of the Annals Reports by the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS). The NYAS is one of the oldest and most respected academic journals in the United States, with an impact factor ranking 6th out of 55 for Multidisciplinary Sciences in 2013.
The symposium, co-hosted by the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, received outstanding reviews from participants and has now become an annual event. Next year’s conference will take place on September 21, 2015.
The proceedings include research summaries of all 16 presentations, including the keynote addresses given by Founding Member of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research and Professor of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Dr. Robert Weinberg and Chief of the Head and Neck Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Dr. Jatin Shah.
Oral Cancer Research Initiative (OCRI) Director/co-Chair of the Symposium Maria Kukuruzinska and OCRI investigator Bob Varelas are the co-authors of this publication.
“I am pleased to have the proceedings of this unique event published in such a distinguished forum, enabling the dissemination of the important information presented at this meeting to the greater scientific community,” Dr. Kukuruzinska stated. The finished product acts as a comprehensive guide to cutting edge head and neck cancer research.
