UI / Front-end / Javascript Opportunity at TouchAhead Software
This is a great opportunity for Summer 2013 with state-of-the-art web technologies. Employment is on-site only, in downtown (financial district) Boston. However, we are very flexible with hours, days, and/or general scheduling.
Position Summary:
We need an HTML5/CSS3/Javascript programmer to help us finish our fully-responsive (Mobile-first) Mobile web application. All server-side work is complete or outside the scope of this work.
A smart candidate can certainly work with bootstrap and backbone, but we also require a candidate who is smart enough to figure out and implement scroll, swipe and resize events which display well on a variety of screen sizes and resolutions.
This web app uses:
- Twitter Bootstrap for interface elements: http://twitter.github.io/bootstrap/
- Backbone.js for all client-side MVC event and state management: http://backbonejs.org/
- (Compiled) Undescore.js templates for any dynamic HTML5/CSS3 rendering. http://underscorejs.org/
- http://garann.github.io/template-chooser/
Our immediate target screen-size for a responsive (resizing) interface is:
- iPhone
- Both iPad sizes
- Android phone
- Common Android tablet sizes
- Any other device capable of supporting a comparable experience with the resulting HTML5/CSS3 interface
We are arriving at a de facto SPA (single-page application) in order to achieve “app-like” behavior”. A reasonable example may be found here: http://wrapbootstrap.com/preview/WB043F013
We require:
- Dynamic resizing of scrolling data-views
- Swipe-responsiveness, left-right as well as up-down
- A robust local-storage implementation with restful API fallback.
- Dynamic context menus on all views.
Data:
- The application consumes fully formatted JSON, coming from a restful API, fetched into models by backbone.js, and populated into the interface with compiled underscore templates.
- The application submits fully formatted JSON, to restful HTTP endpoints.
Timespan and Contract details:
We need this work complete and launched ASAP. We anticipate a 2-to-3 month requirement, but can commit to 3 months if required. We are flexible on hours and workdays but we require in-office work (until such a time as the successful candidate has proven their ability to consistently provide exemplary deliverables, over a reasonable period). Our offices are in downtown Boston, financial district.
Additional Info or Opportunities:
Our cross-browser mobile application has our highest business priority. However, if the right candidate has read this, and is thinking, “Darn. I could have written them an App for the Apple Store in three months…” Then we would be interested in getting a contract quote for a native Apple AppStore App, which consumes the same JSON API as our mobile application and which could be delivered fairly quickly. This is because of the large number of clients who use iPhones and iPads in their business.
Long Story (who we are):
We are TouchAhead Software, and our flagship product is EquityTouch. http://www.touchahead.com/. We have a successful Private Equity (financial investment) Software-as-a-Service Web Product. Our web platform allows our meticulously-supported clients to log into their own data-isolated web software, and manage their private equity process. Our current web interface is designed for optimum viewing and use, at (large) desktop resolutions.
This summer we are launching a mobile app. We are building a fully HTML5/CSS3 responsive Interface, which may eventually expand to also represent our product on the desktop.
Our backend is C# MVC and API, with custom authentication tokens. Our products have both Mail and Calendar integration with Microsoft Outlook and GoogleApps/Gmail.
