Online Student Overload Request Form

The seven-week online classes offered by MET Computer Science are extremely intensive. Learning the material well and succeeding in these courses requires twenty or more hours per week of study per course, preferably including some study each day. We understand that sometimes part time students have to take more than one class in a single session in order to obtain financial aid and/or to graduate in a specific time frame. We will review your request and determine whether overloading will be approved based on your individual situation. Students taking 12 or more credits (3 or more classes) in the Fall (Fall 1 & 2) or Spring (Spring 1 & 2) semesters are assessed the full-time student tuition rate.

  • Please provide your name as shown on your BU Student Account.
  • Please be sure to seek instructor approval directly if registering in any courses for which you have not successfully completed the prerequisite requirements.
  • Please provide a short statement below on your reasons for overloading and how you plan to be successful.
  • By submitting this form, I am confirming that I am aware of the time commitment required to take more than one four-credit course in a seven-week term. I am aware that I must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 to graduate from Boston University, that any grade below a ‘C’ represents failing performance and that no grade lower than a ‘C’ will be applied toward my degree requirements. I am aware that if I take more than two courses (8 credits) in the Fall or Spring semester, I will be considered a full-time student and will be assessed the full-time tuition rate.
