Boston University Students Shine at International AI Mathematical Olympiad
As part of Boston University’s Deep Learning and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) classes, students participated in the AI Mathematical Olympiad (Progress Prize 2), held from October 17, 2024, to April 1, 2025—and earned both silver and bronze medals.
This prestigious competition challenges participants to develop advanced algorithms and AI models capable of solving complex mathematical problems, pushing the frontiers of artificial intelligence research and capability.
BU students Nhan Ton and Yongyi Xie were awarded a silver medal, while Tristan Lee, Ezra Newman, Paul Ellis, and Mohamed Ibrahim earned bronze medals.
These accomplishments underscore the continued excellence of BU students.
“It’s rewarding to see BU students consistently earn medals in international competitions as part of every class for three years in a row,” said Professor Tamara Drori, who has taught the Deep Learning and AGI courses at BU over the past three years. “Their success reflects the strength and depth of BU’s MS in AI program, which remains at the forefront of AI education and research.”
Congratulations to all the students for their achievements and for pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence.
