Curriculum Vitae

Ilse began her PhD career at Boston University in 2020. She earned her BA in Languages cum laude (2012) and BA Honors in Latin cum laude (2013) at the University of Johannesburg, majoring in Latin, Classical Culture, and French. She then taught Latin and other courses related to the classical world at the North West University in South Africa (2014-2020). A lover of knowledge of all sorts, Ilse is interested in a wide range of research topics. When not working, she enjoys speaking Latin and ancient Greek, volunteering for SALVI, playing World of Warcraft, doing yoga, and taking walks with her family. She’s also the co-founder of Latinitas Animi Causa (habesnelac.com) which aims to promote inclusive and active ancient language instruction.
