The Martha Graham Dance Company (MGDC) gave a stunning lecture- demonstration to over 200 audience members on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. The lecture included archival footage of the Company’s repertoire and a discussion led by Janet Eilber, the Artistic Director of the MGDC. Two of the Company’s dancers, Charlotte Landreau and Lloyd Mayor, accompanied Eilber. They performed Errand into the Maze, a thirteen minute piece Graham choreographed as her interpretation of the myth of Ariadne and the Minotaur.

The performance was well received by all, including Nina Papathanasopoulou, who wrote
a review of the performance that was published in the online journal
Didaskalia. Papathanasopoulou comments that, “Landreau danced the role [of Ariadne] with poise, exactness, and fervor.” Papathanasopoulou is currently spending the year in Athens as the Public Engagement Coordinator for the Society of Classical Studies and as a faculty member at the College Year in Athens.
