Congrats, BU Class of 2022! You’ve made it! This is a wonderful and overwhelming time, so we want to ease your way from your acceptance email to your first day at BU.

  1. Be sure to visit us at one of the Accepted Student Open Houses! We will have both current students and professors available to help you get a sense of what BU and the Classics Department is really like. If you would like to meet one-on-one with a member of the department, email us at classics@bu.edu to arrange it.
  2. Accept your admissions offer and send in your deposit by May 1.
  3. Check with BU Admissions to see their Checklist.
  4. Make a note on your Housing Application that you’re interested in the Classics House, our Specialty Housing brownstone on beautiful Bay State Road. It’s a wonderful way to build community at a big place like BU. First years are encouraged to apply!
  5. Learn about all the things you can do with BU Classics! Check out our Summer Study in Greece, our undergraduate research working with top professors, and the Undergraduate Classics Association. Also, check out the Core Curriculum, an interdisciplinary program focused on building community through learning.
  6. Interested in Latin, Ancient Greek, or Modern Greek? Take a placement test to see what level you’ll take! Be sure to follow the instructions, and try to take the test before your Orientation session so that when you register for classes we can make sure you’re in the right level.
  7. Attend Orientation and register for classes! A Classical Studies faculty member will advise all declared classics majors, but we’re happy to answer any questions from undeclared or interested students as well. Be sure to stop by our department when you’re on campus!
  8. Count down the days until move in. Check BU Today and the BU Twitter, like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter!
  9. Once you’ve moved into your dorm, take a walk around campus to find out where your classes will be. BU has a lot of abbreviations, so make sure you know the difference between PSY and SCI!
  10. Matriculate and start classes! You’ve made it!

Have any questions? We’re here all summer to answer at classics@bu.edu or 617-353-2427. We’d love to hear from you! Congrats, and remember: Always B U!
