On November 18, 2002, Professor Scott E. Schaus (organic chemistry) received a Research Innovation Award from the Research Corporation. This highly competitive award is given each year to the top young faculty members in Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy in the United States and Canada. Professor Schaus’ proposed research focuses on the development of asymmetric catalytic methods for organic synthesis. The research includes the development of asymmetric catalytic systems that can activate neutral compounds as nucleophiles for carbon-carbon bond formation reactions.
