Lifebook: Registration Days & Opening Activities

Registration Day Schedule

Registration is held at Groton Place on West Street Campus. You will register with your program as well as receive your housing information. Detailed registration day schedules and information will be sent to students approximately one month before the start of their program.

  • 10am – 4pm | Registration and Move-in
  • 2:30pm | “So, Your Child Wants to Major in Music?” Parent Information Session

    Opening Ceremony & Cookout

    The Opening Ceremony welcomes everyone to Boston University Tanglewood Institute. The cookout directly follows the event on the back lawn of West Street Campus. There is no additional charge to students for the cookout. Additional guests may pre-purchase tickets for $15 each. The specific form can be found in the ‘Student Life Packet’ and must include separate payment.

    “So, Your Child Wants to Major in Music?” Parent Information Session

    Geared toward parents, but students welcome, too! Learn more about what it really means to major in music from music admissions professionals. More information will be included in your program’s schedules.

    Program Meetings

    Meetings for students in a BUTI Young Artists Program will be conducted on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at approximately 7:00 P.M. Meeting locations for all programs will be provided at registration.

    Campus Orientation Meetings

    West Street Campus orientation meetings will be conducted for students who move in during the registration weekends as follows:

    • Sunday, June 22, 2025 – 7:00pm – West Street Campus Theater
    • Sunday, July 6, 2025 – 8:30pm – West Street Campus Theater
    • Sunday, July 27, 2025 – 7:30pm – Groton Place Library

    It is mandatory for you to attend the orientation meeting scheduled on your registration weekend, as well as a dorm floor meeting, which will follow at curfew (10:30pm) in your residence with your Student Community Leaders.
