Belmont Public Schools Honors BU Art Educator Nicole Pond with the 2023 Outstanding Teacher Award
Congratulations to Nicole Pond (CFA’99), Lecturer in Art, Art Education, at BU School of Visual Arts for being recognized as one of the recipients of the Belmont Public Schools 2023 Outstanding Teacher Awards!
Earlier this month, The Foundation for Belmont Education announced the recipients of the 2023 Outstanding Teacher Awards (OTA) and the S. Warren Farrell Award for Educational Excellence, sponsored by the Belmont Savings Bank Foundation. Recipients were selected among nominations submitted by students, families, colleagues, and community members. Outstanding Teachers are recognized for their excellence in the classroom and for consistently making a difference in the lives of Belmont’s students.
Pond holds a BFA in Art Education from Boston University as well as M. Ed. in Art Education from Lesley University. She has taught as an elementary art teacher in Belmont, MA for over 20 years and is a practicing visual artist.
Boston University gave me the foundation to my career as an artist and teacher and I am incredibly lucky to still be part of the BU community. I would never earn this title without BU being part of my life each week for the past 28 years.
The Foundation for Belmont Education is hosting a celebratory ceremony to honor this year’s recipients on Thursday, May 4, at 6pm at the Belmont High School Auditorium.
