She has developed a METCO mentor program within her school to promote community and social emotional learning in all of her students. She has also curated a biannual show at the Belmont Gallery of Art, titled “Off the Clock,” for her K–12 art-department colleagues to share their work with the community and students. Nicole has extensive grant-writing experience, which has led to visiting artists such as Peter H. Reynolds and the Puppet Showcase Theater, and to programs such as the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art hosting a week at Burbank Elementary School. Her art room is a place of exploration, artistic choices, and creative energy.

Additionally, in 2007, Nicole began teaching courses in art education online and on campus for undergraduate and graduate degree candidates at Boston University. She teaches the Curriculum Planning course online, as well as Elementary Methods of Art Education and Introduction to Art Education on campus. She also holds an MA certification in director/supervision.

Nicole’s artistic background includes ongoing studio practice in drawing, painting, and printmaking; memberships in professional organizations; exhibitions; and conference presentations. Having earned her B.F.A. from Boston University and an M.Ed. in art education from Lesley University, Nicole brings an authentic artistic experience to Boston University’s art-education program.
