Tell us a little bit about the projects you did before coming into the MSDS program
Before I joined the MSDS program, I worked as a financial analyst with AMICORP Group and focused on real estate investment. In the summer of 2023, I also worked as a marketing technology analyst intern for Changi Airport Group. Most projects that I took part in revolved around marketing campaigns for airline passengers.
How did you become interested in data science?
During my time at Changi Airport Group, I witnessed firsthand how marketing teams leveraged vast amounts of consumer data to craft targeted campaigns and personalized customer experiences. It wasn’t just about creative concepts anymore; it was about backing those concepts with measurable results. This internship was a pivotal moment for me to pursue data science and apply these powerful tools to drive informed decision-making across industries.
What drew you to the MSDS program at the Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences?
After completing my undergraduate degree in economics and mathematics at Boston University, I knew I wanted to continue my education in Boston. When considering graduate programs, the MSDS program stood out for its flexible structure that aligns with my career goals. I was interested in exploring both full-time job opportunities and internships, so the program’s ability to accommodate different timelines was ideal. The program lets me choose between a Core Methods Focused Concentration or an Applied Methods Focused Concentration to tailor my education path to my interests and what I want to learn.
