About

Gary Wilson is the Assistant Director of Admission, Online Master's in Data Science, and  joined CDS during the summer of 2024. Much of Gary's professional background has been directed toward undergraduate recruitment, with a focus on domestic students heading into healthcare careers. However, in his current BU role, he is working with graduate students within the Online Master's in Data Science program, and this is a new and exciting opportunity for him.

What do you enjoy most about your admissions role at BU?

I really enjoy working with students and professionals. It's inspiring to work with individuals coming from all different phases of life, all with the same drive and mission. Everyone has been incredibly kind, and I hope I’ve also been a positive face for BU so far in our interactions.

How fast can a student complete the OMDS program?

The OMDS program is designed to be completed in 16 Months, or four semesters. We have two start terms (Fall and Spring) with a designed Summer semester as well. So, if a student starts in the fall of 2024, they will complete in December of 2025. We also offer a slower paced version of the program, called the Flex Schedule. This version can be completed in eight semesters.

How many hours of work per week does the program require?

For the 2.5 Modules taken in the Standard schedule, we estimate students will need 20-25 hours of time devoted to the program. That includes lectures, readings, outside assignments, and any other required work.

Is the class order set, or can we be flexible?

At the moment, we highly recommend students following the schedule set by our faculty. They’ve done incredible work making sure course subjects flow into each other, and build upon the concepts previously covered. While we do offer some flexibility, the recommended order is the best order.

Is the OMDS program built for working adults?

It certainly is! The OMDS program was designed for professionals with career growth in mind. We want students to be able to complete it side-by-side, and use the concepts they’re learning within their fields.
