Lakyn Bright

Undergraduate Academic Advisor

CDS welcomed Lakyn Bright in May 2023 as an Undergraduate Academic Advisor. In this role, Lakyn supports the undergraduate students in CDS from orientation to graduation by providing thorough guidance regarding academic plans, goals, and interests. Additionally, she connects students to available campus and community resources and activities. Lakyn holds a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science and Human Development with an emphasis in Family Studies from Utah Valley University.

Prior to joining BU, Lakyn advised undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Development and Games at the University of Utah. With this experience, she brings with her a passion for STEM student wellbeing, the desire to always create welcoming and safe environments, and strives to both inspire and help her students create the university experience they wish to have. Lakyn also values the professional development of academic advisors and served as Chair for a campus committee at the University of Utah. In this role, she hosted a monthly workshop centered on the theoretical approaches to academic advising for the undergraduate academic advising community. In addition to academic advising, Lakyn has extensive experience working in the non-profit sector serving at-risk youths as well as underrepresented and refugee populations.

Lakyn is excited to work with the students in CDS and is looking forward to not only supporting them but learning from them as well!
