Reclaiming STEM Science Communication Workshop on 9/21/19

Reclaiming STEM is now accepting applications for their East Coast Workshop at UNH this Fall! Reclaiming STEM is a science communication workshop open to scientists with diverse backgrounds, preferably those from under-represented groups. This one-day workshop will host 200 scientists from across the East Coast to provide training for diverse scientists to learn how to communicate their science at the intersection of research and social justice, and is the first of its kind, centering science communication and science policy training specifically for marginalized scientists (POC, Women, LGBTQ+, individuals with handicaps, first-generation, etc). This is a terrific opportunity for individuals interested in effectively communicating their science in ways that reflect their personal identity and allow for integrating their research into social justice and advocacy.

The workshop is free and includes food and instruction from an array of diverse speakers. It will be held on Saturday, September 21st at the UNH campus in Durham, NH from 7:00am-6:30pm. If you could please circulate this information + the below links to the agenda and application to your students and colleagues, then it would be greatly appreciated (application deadline is August 16th). This would also serve as a good networking opportunity under the NEAGEP umbrella.

As we’re all connected via NEAGEP, I’ve set aside some limited funding for lodging on the evening of Friday, 9/20, so please let me know if anyone wishes to be considered for that. Similarly, we also have a limited budget to help with mileage/transportation costs.
