Lou Baya Ould Rouis is a Ph.D. candidate at Boston University currently working in the BU White Dwarf group (https://sites.bu.edu/buwd/) guided by Professor JJ Hermes. Lou Baya primarily studies massive white dwarfs with spectroscopy in an effort to understand stellar evolution. She has also worked on identifying remnant planetary systems and stellar merger product signatures.

Outside of her research, she is passionate about increased participation and access to Astronomy, as a founding member of the Astronomy Graduate Student Congress (https://astro-grad-congress.github.io/about/), which aims to promote inter-departmental discourse, as well as Inclusive Astronomy (https://sites.bu.edu/ia/), which primarily aims to coordinate public engagement initiatives and foster community.

Outside of work hours, Lou Baya loves to bike around the city, spend time reading at coffee places, or discover new perspectives at the Coolidge Corner Theatre.
