“An Emotional Roller Coaster”—Parents Bid Their Freshmen Goodbye
It’s the fall ritual that leaves parents of college freshmen with a lump in their throat—that moment when it’s time to say goodbye and head home. And whether it’s your first time going through college drop-off or your 10th (whew!), it’s always emotional: a mix of excitement, pride, apprehension, and yes, a little heartbreak.
In a BU Today tradition, we caught up with some of this year’s 3,620 freshmen and their parents during Move-In. Mothers and fathers shared their hopes and dreams for their children and talked about becoming empty nesters. And students spoke of the admiration they have for their parents. This year’s goodbyes ended, as they always do, with a final hug. Take a look.
And remember: Family & Friends Weekend is just six weeks away.
