Why should I go?
The Tony-winning Broadway musical Wicked returns to the Citizens Bank Opera House for a two-month engagement.
Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz, long before Dorothy came wandering through. It is about the relationship between Glinda the Good Witch (played by Jennafer Newberry) and Elphaba the Wicked Witch (Lissa deGuzman), their eventual falling out, and the opposite paths they take. The show features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and includes hit songs such as “Popular,” “Defying Gravity,” and “For Good.”
Since opening on the Great White Way in 2003, Wicked has been seen by over 60 million people worldwide and has reached over $5 billion in global sales. Now the fifth-longest-running show on Broadway, it has played in over 100 cities and has been translated into six languages. A film adaptation of the musical is also in the works and will star Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
While not guaranteed, $30 rush tickets may be available to students with a valid ID two hours before the performance. These tickets must be purchased at the box office, and there’s a limit of two tickets per transaction. A select number of $39 tickets for all performances can be won through a digital lottery. Other tickets can be purchased online or at the theater.
