Few summer 2021 movies have been as eagerly anticipated as Black Widow. The spy thriller, starring Scarlett Johansson (her ninth time reprising the role as the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero) was scheduled for release in May 2020, but delayed three times as the COVID-19 pandemic shut down cinemas across the country.
But the big day has arrived as the film rolls out across the country this weekend (and begins streaming on Disney+). Fans will finally get to see the secret agent Avenger in a starring role in her own film. Critics say the movie has been worth the wait. From USA Today: “the film makes up for years of Johansson playing third- and fourth-fiddle in Avengers films,” anointing Black Widow with three out of four stars. Costarring Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, and David Harbour, the film could rake in $90 million at the US box office this weekend industry analysts predict, which could make it the highest grossing opening weekend since the pandemic shuttered movie theaters in March 2020.
To celebrate the film’s release, we published a Black Widow trivia quiz earlier today. When the contest closed at noon, the names of those who answered all the questions correctly were entered in a drawing for two tickets to a screening tonight, Friday, July 9, at Regal Fenway & RPX at 7 pm.
