There are 6 comments on Former COM Lecturer Cleared for Double Arm Transplant

  1. One mourns his misfortune and applauds everyone who stood by him. But it would be nice to know more about the donor. Afterall, an arm transplant is not like a kidney transplant, where in principle the donor could continue to have a fine life. This aspect was totally missing from the article. Best wishes!

    1. The article states that they are still looking for a donor through the New England Organ Bank, but you raise a good point. I hope that if they do find a suitable donor, BU Today follows up with an article about that person.

    2. Usually organ donation is anonymous and required to be so, unless the organ is coming from a friend or family member. This is to protect both the recipient and the donor and/or donor family.

  2. I wish the best of luck to all involved, and especially to Mr. Lautzenheiser. I hope all goes well–please keep us updated on his story, BU Today.
