A Norfolk County grand jury indicted three suspects on Thursday in connection with the armed robberies of three Boston University students and one recent graduate earlier this semester.
Taquari Milton, 17, of Roxbury, a 16-year-old from Roxbury, and a 15-year-old from Dorchester were indicted on four counts of armed robbery for incidents that took place on September 25 and October 5, according to Norfolk Country prosecutors. The first two teenagers were also indicted on one count of accessory after the fact in the October 5 robbery.
Brookline police arrested the teenagers in mid-October. Police continue to investigate the robberies that took place on September 23 and October 9 near BU.
“We thank the Brookline Police Department and Boston University Police Department for their work and cooperation in this investigation and putting this case together,” said District Attorney Michael Morrissey in a statement released Thursday.
If convicted, the teenagers face a minimum of five years in state prison, although the court could impose juvenile sentences on the two younger suspects.
The district attorney’s office is also pursuing parallel cases in Brookline District Court and in juvenile court, which cannot sentence convicted criminals to state prison and can impose a maximum sentence of two and half years in jail.
David Traub, a press officer for the Norfolk district attorney, said prosecutors would drop the two lower court cases if the suspects are formally charged with the crimes in Superior Court, which has not yet set a date for their arraignment.
