Xconomy Summit Looks Ahead
President Brown to welcome a conference on innovation
The future is now, and informed talk about it takes place Wednesday, when Boston University hosts XSITE 2009, the Xconomy Summit on Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, an all-day conference celebrating New England’s innovation and advance into the 21st century.
With presentations in the fields of energy, life sciences, robotics, mobile computing, and transportation, conference host Xconomy, which provides business and technology leaders with information necessary for succeeding in today’s high-tech economy, hopes to “challenge New England’s innovators to step up and take an even larger role in embracing and shaping the future.”
The conference will open with a welcome from Boston University President Robert A. Brown. One of the two keynote speakers is Dean Kamen (Hon.’06), president of DEKA Research and Development and founder of FIRST. Key players and innovators in the private and public sectors, from IBM and GlaxoSmithKline to Harvard Medical School and BU’s Institute for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization, will speak. Venture capitalists will explore how they analyze and fund new ideas, and the day will end with 12 start-up companies making “lightning-speed presentations” of their innovative approaches.
XSITE begins at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, at BU’s School of Management.
