Women’s B-ball Terriers Take On Central Conn Tonight
BU makes first-ever WNIT appearance

The Terrier women’s basketball team sets precedents as well as picks tonight, with the University’s first-ever appearance in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) and first-ever postseason game at Case Gym.
The 24-7 Terriers host Central Connecticut State University (18-13) in a first-round game at 7 p.m. at The Roof.
BU earned a postseason berth after claiming the 2009 regular-season America East championship, going a perfect 16-0 for the first time in program history and just the fifth time in conference history.
Sporting a program-record 19-game winning streak over the past two and a half months, BU will face off with CCSU holding a commanding 17-2 advantage in a series dating back to 1978 (but last played in 2004, head coach Kelly Greenberg’s first season at the helm). BU hopes the pattern repeats — the Terriers won by a convincing 73-58 margin at Case Gym.
The team’s four seniors, Jesyka Burks-Wiley (CAS’09), Amarachi Umez-Eronini (CAS’09), Christine Kinneary (CAS’09), and Kristi Dini (SAR’09), have led the Terriers with outstanding performances this year. Burks-Wiley, averaging an impressive 18.5 points per game this season, has been a dominant force in the front court, and was named the 2009 America East Player of the Year.
Although no one takes this game for granted, should BU prevail, there is plenty of interest in the next round: Boston College on Monday, March 23, farther on up Comm Ave – an “away” game, but still easily available to the Terrier faithful.
Tickets for Terrier women’s basketball are available in advance of the game at the Agganis Arena ticket office, 925 Commonwealth Ave., or online. On game days, the Walter Brown ticket office in the Case Gymnasium, 285 Babcock St., opens one hour prior to the game. Discounted tickets for faculty and staff are available through the ticket office or by calling 617-353-GOBU. For more information, click here.
