Why Did Pluto Get the Boot?
Museum of Science show on the wild ride of a rock star

Nobody likes to be cut from the team — just ask Pluto, once a member of our solar system’s elite roster of planets, now relegated to another chunk of rock in the Kuiper Belt.
In the Museum of Science’s new show What Happened to Pluto? at the Charles Hayden Planetarium, visitors can search for undiscovered space objects — a slight step up from just being a member of the Facebook group, “When I was your age, Pluto was a planet." They’ll also learn why the International Astronomical Union demoted Pluto to a dwarf planet in August 2006, and they’ll follow NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft on the journey to study Pluto more closely.
What Happened to Pluto? runs through August 5; the shows for today, July 8, are at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. For a complete schedule, click here. Tickets are $7 to $9 and can be bought online.
