In the video above, David Ferry, aCAS lecturer in creative writing and winner of the Lenore MarshallPoetry Prize, the Bingham Poetry Prize, and the Teasdale Prize, reads from his translation of Virgil’s Aeneid.
Ferry was one of eight faculty members to read from their works at theannual Faculty Reading, on December 3, 2007. Sponsored by the CreativeWriting Program, the event included readings by Leslie Epstein, a CASprofessor and director of the Creative Writing Program; Allegra Goodman, a CAS lecturer in creative writing and winner of a Whiting Writer’s Award; Ha Jin (GRS’94), a CAS professor of creative writingand winner of a National Book Award, two PEN/Faulkner Awards, and aPEN/Hemingway Award; Robert Pinsky, a three-time U.S. poet laureate and CAS professor of English; poet, scholar, and translator Rosanna Warren, aUniversity Professor and BU’s Emma Ann MacLachlan Metcalf Professor ofthe Humanities; Derek Walcott, a Nobel laureate and a CAS professor ofcreative writing; and poet Tom Yuill (GRS’98), a Metropolitan Collegelecturer in liberal studies.
