MED Prof Takes on New Roles
MED Prof Benedict Daly is the new head of cardiothoracic surgery at BMC and chair of cardiothoracic surgery at MED

Benedict Daly (MED’65), a School of Medicine professor of cardiothoracic surgery, has taken on two additional leadership roles. Daly is director of the Center for Thoracic Oncology and clinical director of general thoracic surgery, both at Boston Medical Center (BMC). Beginning this semester, he is also the head of BMC’s cardiothoracic surgery and chair of cardiothoracic surgery at MED.
After Daly graduated from BU, he served on the faculty at the School of Medicine until 1977. He then worked at various medical institutions in the area, including New England Medical Center, Tufts University School of Medicine, and Newton-Wellesley Hospital, before returning to BU in 2002.
“Dr. Daly brings a wealth of clinical experience to this role, and we look forward to the leadership he will provide to the department of cardiothoracic surgery,” says Elaine Ullian, BMC president and CEO.
