Prof. Cheryl Knott and undergraduate students examine a recently deceased orangutan to better understand their life history
Apply to BU
The Department of Anthropology encourages students to explore the evolutionary development and appreciate the cultural diversity of human life. With our four-field approach to the discipline, we offer a number of majors and minors to suit our students’ interests.
Our faculty also promote a dynamic learning experience for all students through introductory lectures, as well as advanced-level seminars. For this reason, in addition to learning about “everything human”, students in our department hone a range of practical skills, such as critical and comparative thinking, hands-on lab and field research, project design and management, and cross-cultural understanding.
How to Apply
The department is not involved in the undergraduate admissions process. Students interested in applying to Boston University should seek assistance from the BU Admissions Office.
