Join Us at an AIDA Symposium
Join us to explore how GenAI is impacting teaching and learning across disciplines. Each event will have a theme and feature 2-4 faculty or academic leaders presenting examples of innovative AI use in their courses or work, followed by an open discussion on generative AI’s application and impact within the theme. Each symposium will have a moderator and conclude with a 30-minute networking session with refreshments. This series is presented in partnership with the Institute for Excellence in Teaching & Learning. We hope to see you there!
Upcoming Symposiums
4/7: Writing in Higher Education, and the Role of AI
Tuesday, April 7 | 9 am – 2 pm | CDS 1750

In partnership with the Institute for Excellence in Teaching & Learning, AIDA will be hosting a focused symposium where faculty explore the pedagogy of writing in higher education, including practical sessions on teaching the writing process both with and without AI. We will dive into the practical challenges and creative opportunities, highlighting how faculty are thoughtfully integrating—or intentionally working around—AI to ensure students continue to write, explain, and persuade with their own unique voices. Register now.
Agenda
This event will feature faculty from across BU’s schools and colleges who will explore the unique challenges and opportunities of AI’s role in writing across disciplines. Join us for the entire time or drop in for specific sessions as your schedule allows.
Sessions include:
- Elevating the Human Voice: Explore how faculty are helping students cultivate their unique
writing voices and styles, foregrounding the human element in the presence of AI.
- Co-Authorship, Collaboration, and Feedback: Examine the evolving roles of co-authors and the
importance of proper attribution to both human collaborators and AI tools.
- Context Matters: AI and Writing in the Disciplines: Investigate if and how AI tools can help faculty
across different disciplines.
- Student Perspectives Panel: Hear from current BU students about the challenges and
opportunities they face using AI tools in their educational journey.
The event will be moderated by Margaret Wallace, Associate Professor of the Practice in Media Innovation at the College of Communication.
Register now.
