Jeremy Furlow-Aponte

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in History from Arizona State University in 2011, Jeremy Furlow-Aponte relocated to Boston for the purpose of pursuing education work. Furlow-Aponte began volunteering with Inquilinos Boricuas en Accion’s after-school program and Dudley Promise Corps during 2013-14. He graduated from the UMass Boston Teacher Next Year program with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education in 2015. He has been working as an elementary educator and also assisting with the development of Ethnic Studies curriculum and teacher training in collaboration with the Boston Teachers Union and Boston Public School District.
Furlow-Aponte is interested in learning more about the cultures and histories of the African diaspora in the Americas, African environmentalism, African philosophy, histories of resistance to colonization, and African political organizing in the modern era.
