Danyelle Greene

Danyelle Greene’s research and teaching interests include African American cinema and critical race studies. As a scholar-practitioner, she focuses on black aesthetics as a mode of inquiry into the politics of representation and re-presentation of blackness in film. She has published articles on Ava DuVernay’s Selma and the blaxploitation film Sweet Jesus, Preacher Man in Black Camera, and the Journal of Popular Culture, respectively. She has also co-directed an art exhibition titled In My Hands in which she presented her co-produced video installation, Twice As Hard.

She teaches courses on black American cinema and black auteur filmmaking. She has also taught general film and media studies classes.
