Tina BaroutiFor the summer of 2015, Tina Barouti was awarded a Foreign Language Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship from the African Studies Center to learn colloquial Moroccan Arabic at the Arabic Language Institute in Fes, Morocco. A student in the History of Art and Architecture Department, Barouti had the opportunity to visit numerous galleries, museums, and alternative art spaces and met with local art practitioners, which greatly benefited her research. Tina is now serving as a graduate research volunteer at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston for Jen Mergel, the Beal Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, and Kristen Gresh, the Karsh Assistant Curator of Photography, on the production of an exhibition and publication on contemporary artists from across Africa and its diaspora.
