Boston University Study Abroad and the Questrom School of Business offer Questrom students an exciting opportunity to earn management credit and complete a four-credit internship in Sydney, Australia. The Sydney Business Internship Program, which is offered only during the spring semester, features an extended, six-month semester. At the start of the program, students complete a core course and a full-time internship arranged by the BU Sydney Center. From March to July, students directly enroll at the University of Sydney. During their time in Sydney, students live in single bedrooms in fully furnished 3 or 4 bedroom suites at the Sydney Center.

Curriculum
Open to BU students only, the Sydney Business Internship Program offers an extended one-semester internship program consisting of three courses at the
University of Sydney, at least two of which must be management courses, CAS AN368, a required course on Australian Culture and Society, and an internship. Students receive a total of 17 credits: the three University of Sydney classes are transferred to BU as 3-credit classes and AN368 and the academic internship are 4-credit classes.
Students should refer to Questrom’s lists of pre-approved courses before applying.
Required Courses
Study Abroad will enroll students in a non-credit Hub co-curricular, the required course on Australian Culture and Society, and a four-credit internship course. Upon successful completion of the internship experience, students will receive a Hub unit in the area Individual in Community from the co-curricular HUB SA 330.

- Major focus on Australia’s global and national development as a multicultural nation with European roots, traditional western alliances and an imagined future in the Asia-Pacific region. The themes of continuity and change in relation to the Aboriginal population are explored in some detail.

- CAS EC 497 Internship in Business/Economics (4)
- Gain experience in marketing, small business management, HR, banking, finance, accounting, economic research, or data analytics, by interning with Australian corporations, small businesses, or start-ups. Past internships have included North Sydney Innovation Network, RSM Australia, BT Financial, and TWIYO Capital. Placements vary by semester and are subject to availability, no specific organization can be guaranteed.

Program Residence
- Students live in either the BU Center or another nearby student residence based on space availability.
- Students live in single or double, furnished rooms, in a shared suite or apartment.
- There is a shared kitchen and dining area. There is a mall a short walk away where students can purchase kitchen supplies, home goods, and groceries.
- Board is not included/no stipend.
- No dining hall availability.
- All students have access to the BU Sydney Academic Center which includes 24 hr. security, a roof deck for students to hang out, a fully-stocked library with computers and classrooms.

This program is rolling admissions; applications are reviewed once all application materials are received, prior to all deadlines. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all required materials are received by the BU Study Abroad office. Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible as some programs and internship tracks have limited space and may fill up before the deadline. Submitting a complete application prior to the application deadline, does not guarantee acceptance. Students will be emailed an admissions decision within three weeks of a completed application.
