Pardee Center Welcomes New Director Anthony Janetos
The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future is pleased to announce the arrival of the new director Prof. Anthony Janetos, an expert in the field of global change.
Prof. Janetos says his priorities for the Pardee Center involve taking on the problems facing the planet over the next few decades and, “Integrating understanding of society, culture, and institutions with the physical world.”
“We want to foster that kind of interdisciplinary understanding in this whole range of issues as they unfold.”
Prof. Janetos has devoted his career to high-impact global change science and policy. He comes to the Pardee Center from his position as Director of the Joint Global Change Research Institute at the University of Maryland where he led an interdisciplinary team on the problem of climate change. In addition to serving as Director of the Pardee Center, he is also a Professor in the Department of Earth and Environment.
He succeeds Prof. James McCann who has been Director ad interim of the Pardee Center since August 2011.
