Open skating

Open skating is offered to full-time students, FitRec members and the general community during academic year semesters at the Walter Brown Arena, located in the Case Center at 285 Babcock Street.

Adult and youth skates are available for rent, although you are welcome to bring your own skates as availability of skate rental cannot be guaranteed. Skate rentals are $5 per person (all ages). Cash and credit only.

Please note: hockey sticks or pucks are NOT allowed during open skate hours.

Community Skating Hours are open to the Boston University Community and General Public during the above listed hours (please pay careful attention to exceptions). Skating is free for FitRec Members. Non-FitRec Members will need to purchase their pass and sign a waiver at the Skate Shop (located through the double doors at the southwest corner at rink level) before skating is permitted. Individuals are encouraged to bring their own skates, but we do offer skate rentals at our skate shop (socks required). Use of sticks and pucks and fast skating are never allowed during open skate. Helmets are encouraged for novice skaters. First Aid and Skate Guard staff will supervise all sessions and serve as the authority on safe standards and rink capacity. All skaters are ask to be respectful of the staff and other guests.
