Aquatics
From early-morning
Masters Swim workouts to water polo and synchronized swimming
club practices at night, the Boston University Aquatic Center
overflows with activity. The center offers classes including
scuba, aqua aerobics, diving and all levels of swimming, as
well as a comprehensive program of American Red Cross certification
courses in Lifeguard Training and Water Safety. Both the Competition
Pool and Recreation Pool are also open for drop-in lap swimming
and recreational use during specified times.
The Aquatic Center features two pools:
The Competition
Pool is a 10-lane by 16-lane pool with the ability
to change from meters to yards using a movable bulkhead. The
depth slopes from 7 feet to 13.5 feet, appropriate for water
polo, synchronized swimming, and diving. Water temperature
is kept at 80°F.
The Recreation Pool
has many features for working out, playing, and relaxing such
as a lazy river, 15-person hot tub, shallow water aerobics
classes, or the option to play water basketball with friends.
This smaller pool also features three 20-yard lanes, a zero
depth ramp for wheelchairs, slopes from three feet to five
feet in depth, and is kept at a temperature of 86°F.
