The Walkers
Walking escorts are available to all students, faculty, staff, and University guests from one on-campus location to another. Two walkers are dispatched for each walk request and are equipped with a radio for contact with the supervisor or to call Boston University Police, a flashlight, their Terrier Card, and umbrellas, when needed. All staff may be identified by their uniforms – a white shirt or jacket with the BU Escort Security Service logo. Walking escorts do carry parcels or luggage.
Safety Checks
The Escort Security Service is responsible for helping to evaluate some campus safety equipment. Walkers are responsible for checking all blue emergency call boxes and vestibule telephones at campus residences. Any equipment found to be malfunctioning is reported for repairs. Walkers also check the front and back doors of campus residences to make sure they are closed and properly locked. The Boston University Police Department is immediately notified of any door that is found opened or unlocked.
