At BU’s College of Arts & Sciences, you’ll earn a Bachelor of Arts (BA) while exploring big ideas, sharpening essential skills, and customizing your journey. Whether you’re passionate about philosophy or physics, languages or law, CAS helps you build a strong academic foundation and prepares you for whatever comes next—grad school, a global career, or a path uniquely your own.
What You’ll Need to Graduate
At least 128 credit units (most courses are 4 units).
Completion of the BU Hub, BU’s general education program, which helps you grow in areas like communication, ethics, and global citizenship, including at least one natural science course with a laboratory component.
Proficiency in a non-English language — ranging from Arabic to Chinese, from Ancient Latin to Modern Greek, from German to Hindi-Urdu, from Persian to Portuguese and from Swahili to Japanese, to American Sign Language — through course work, study abroad, or an exam.
Completion of the requirements (typically 9–16 courses) of at least one major in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, or mathematical & computational sciences.
