"PLACE"

The 26th Annual Boston University Graduate Student Symposium on the History of Art invites submissions exploring the themes of place, space, site, and geography.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to the following: art concerning landscape, environmental concerns and eco-critical perspectives; nationalism, transnationalism, and boundaries; regionalism and internationalism; topographical impulses and mapping; the geographic imagination; physical or psychological placement or displacement; institutional, public, private or virtual spaces; art’s physical location, size, and scale; gendered and domestic spaces; and the cosmos (outer space) or the psyche (inner space). We welcome submissions from graduate students at all stages of their studies, working in any discipline.

Please email your cv and a one-page abstract to Carrie Anderson, Symposium Coordinator, Department of Art History, Boston University at moorec@bu.edu by December 1, 2009. We will notify selected speakers by January 1, 2010.
