JoLaine Hall
Production Manager
JoLaine (she/they/Mx.) is proving to be a true Boston University lifer, having now spent over half of her life working at Tsai Performance Center. Born and raised in upstate New York, JoLaine first came to BU as an undergraduate in 1996. As a work-study student, she spent all but one summer of her college career working at Tsai as a Production Assistant. JoLaine graduated magna cum laude from BU in just three years, earning a bachelor’s degree in classical civilization in 1999.
In addition to continuing her work at Tsai after graduation, JoLaine added a second job as Master Control Operator on the Neighborhood Network News, filmed in the BU College of Communication. After a few years, she gave up the news job in order to make more time for freelance work in the Boston theatre community. In October 2002, she accepted the full-time position of Assistant Technical Director at Tsai and in July 2003 was promoted to Technical Director (now currently titled as Production Manager).
JoLaine loves anything to do with theatrical lighting. She takes great pride and joy in working with a diverse student staff, who come from all over the world to pursue a variety of academic interests at BU. In her free time, JoLaine loves dancing, gardening, and spending time with her other half and their three cats.
