The Clothesline Project

"The Clothesline Project originated from a coalition of women’s groups in Cape Cod, Massachusetts during the summer of 1990. Their goal was to educate, break the silence, and bear witness to interpersonal violence, an issue that deeply impacted these women and people everywhere."

"The concept of the Clothesline Project was simple—let each person tell their story in their own way using words or artwork to decorate a shirt. Once finished, the shirt was hung on the clothesline. This display became an educational tool for those who were ignorant about the prevalence of interpersonal violence. It also became a healing tool for anyone who made a shirt."

Widen Your Horizons—Read a Banned Book

Sydney Villegas (CAS’24) was among the book lovers attending BU Diversity & Inclusion’s Banned Books Story Time, held February 2 at the Howard Thurman Center in observance of World Read-Aloud Day. During the reading marathon, those attending took turns reading aloud banned picture books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters.
