Training

Enacting Allyship

Enacting Allyship is for all BU staff and faculty and is led by BU staff and faculty who are trained facilitators. Enacting Allyship training is a primer to LGBTQIA+ topics and covers evolving language and terminology, basic concepts around gender and sexuality, issues specific to LGBTQIA+ students and employees at BU, campus resources, and much more.

Enacting Allyship is a train-the-trainer model, and if you are interested in being a facilitator, please email us at lgbtqia@bu.edu or sign up for our email list (at the bottom of this page) to receive more information. Please check back on this site for information about future training sessions. In the interim, please be in touch with us about customized training.

Customized Training

We provide customized training about a wide array of LGBTQIA+ topics for BU offices and organizations. If other on-campus training does not meet your needs, please let us know more about what type of training you are seeking. We may be able to accommodate your needs this academic year, we may partner with another office on campus around training; or we may recommend a local or national trainer with specific expertise. We are happy to explore with you more about what your specific department’s needs are and pair you with the best training to meet those needs.

Additional BU Training

Many of our partners provide excellent, relevant training that we promote. Examples of training we recommend checking out are:

  • BU Diversity & Inclusion Learning & Training—In particular, BU D&I provides the Learning and Action workshops: Gender and Sexuality; DEI Foundations; Race, Racism, and Anti-Racism; Neurodiversity, and more. The center partners with the Learning & Training team around its LGBTQIA+ content.
  • Equal Opportunity Office Training—EOO provides a wide array of customized training, including training about discrimination and harassment and Title IX.

Professional Development

Training is one aspect of professional development. In addition to this, the center seeks to provide professional development opportunities for LGBTQIA+ staff and faculty at BU. Check out our programming calendar for future opportunities.

In addition, our partners in Organizational Development & Learning are the hub for professional development at BU and provide a lot of relevant programs and services.
