The last BU Technology Plan spanned 2015 – 2020, resulting in many new and improved services for the community. But it’s 2021! The University has a new 2030 vision, and it’s time for a new BU technology plan to support that vision, as well as to bring some major initiatives, started under the prior plan, to completion.
There are some major priorities that BU has recently committed to with regard to technology, most notably the Student Information System Renewal program and related retirement of legacy applications and infrastructure. Given these commitments, as well as clear current priorities around community health and wellness and cybersecurity, BU’s technology governance committees have supported an expedited process for establishing BU’s next technology plan.
The VP IS&T has proposed six principal technology priorities and an overarching theme of diversity and inclusion for FY22-24 (June 2021 – July 2024), as well as a process for identifying needs in alignment with the BU 2030 planning process and handling competing demands on University resources. The proposed plan priorities are now posted for community comment.
We encourage you to review the plan and send your feedback by May 1st. We look forward to establishing this new plan this spring!
