Individuals who are either applying to a Boston University academic program, planning to register for an online learning program, or planning to utilize select BU resources will not receive a full BU account (the BU login name and Kerberos password). Instead, those who fall into these groups will create and use a BU Web Account to maintain online materials, monitor status updates and gain access for online registration for special programs. Applicants to an academic program will have secure, online access to their admissions materials and status updates.
Quick tips
- Your BU Web Account is generally your email address.
- You can reset your password if you forget what it is.
- You can update your account information, such as your email address, online.
Types of Web Accounts
Undergraduate Applicants
Undergraduate applicants to Boston University should begin the process for Undergraduate Admissions outlined at www.bu.edu/apply. As part of that process, undergraduates who apply to Boston University using the Common Application will receive an email with instructions for creating a BU Web Account. Once you have a BU Web Account, you will be able to use it to check the status of your application credentials and your admissions decision through My Applicant. If you have questions about your application or your BU Web Account, please contact Undergraduate Admissions.
Graduate Applicants
Graduate Applicants should begin your online application on the website of the school to which you are applying. If you have questions about your application or your BU Web Account, please contact the admissions office of the corresponding graduate school.
Special Programs
Participants in some BU-sponsored programs might also be provisioned with a BU Web Account in order to maintain online materials, monitor status updates or gain access to online registration. In this context, procedures for acquiring the BU Web account may vary and will be specified by the program.
