The Student Ambassador program was introduced in 2021.  Student Ambassadors (SAs) are graduate students from different academic departments who provide support and training for SCC users in their departments.  The SAs hold regular office hours, maintain documentation on using the SCC that’s targeted at the needs of their department, and annually provide a tutorial on SCC usage.

SAs can be contacted by students, postdocs, and faculty in their departments either by dropping in during their office hours or by email.

    • Photo of Amulya Shastrya Amulya Shastrya – Amulya is a PhD student in the Bioinformatics program at BU. She is co-mentored by Dr. Campbell and Dr. Stefano Monti. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Biotechnology from Visweswaraya Technological University (VTU) and a master’s degree in Bioinformatics from Northeastern University. Her research focuses on using machine learning approaches to understand host-driven sub-phenotypes in severe pneumonia. Her other research interests involve microbiome research, cancer genomics, and bioinformatics pipeline development.

    • Photo of Peter Deffebach Peter Deffebach – Peter is a PhD student in the Economics department studying labor and urban economics with a focus on developing countries. He has extensive experience programming in Stata, R, Matlab, and Julia for both causal analysis and structural estimation and has implemented complicated workflows on both the UChicago and BU computing clusters. He currently maintains a variety of well-used Julia packages for data manipulation.

  • Photo of Yuxuan Wang Yuxuan Wang – Yuxuan is currently a third year PhD student in the Biostatistics Department. His research interest is statistical genetics, and he spends most of his time working on large-scale genome-wide association studies and whole genome sequencing data to identify genomic regions and genetic variants associated with plasma lipid traits. He is an #rstat enthusiast and is also experienced in other programming language such as Python and SAS.
