Network Security is key to the security of sensitive information at Boston University and the systems on which it is stored. IS&T continuously monitors the BU campus network to detect and respond to security events and abnormal activity. IS&T also uses firewalls to protect sensitive networks, servers, and applications. Firewalls prevent a number of network based attacks by blocking access from unauthorized systems or through unauthorized means.
