Chris Woods  Mount Holyoke College

Chris Woods is a systems administrator for Library, Information, and Technology Services (LITS) at Mount Holyoke College where he manages vulnerability scanning and is a member of the security incident response team. Prior to joining the college in 2008, he worked in the defense industry where he developed tools to automate the process of generating and organizing electronic documentation sets. He has also served in the U.S. Navy as a cryptologic technician, taught adjunct courses in networking and information security, and worked as a technical writer. Chris is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, holds a master’s degree in Information Technology from Harvard University Extension School, and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

Deborah Hemdal, J.D  Newbury College

Deborah has a private law practice in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. She works primarily with families with disabled children and adults. In addition, she teaches cybercrime and cyber security classes at Newbury College in Brookline. She is also an adjunct instructor in the Rabb School of Graduate and Professional Studies at Brandeis University.

Deborah holds a BA degree from Cornell University; an MA from Binghamton University, and a JD from Western New England University.  She is a licensed attorney in both Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Erik Hemdal  Brandeis University

Since 2002, Erik has served as an Adjunct Instructor in Software Engineering at Brandeis University’s Division of Graduate Professional Studies. His areas of technical interest include system security, system performance, configuration management, and software release control Outside of Brandeis, he is a Senior Support Specialist at InterSystems Corporation in Cambridge, working with application partners and users of InterSystems IRIS Data Platform, Cache’, Ensemble, and HealthShare software products.

Sandy Silk  Harvard University Information Technology IT Security

Sandy Silk is the Director of Information Security Education and Consulting at Harvard University where she leads a team of information security specialists who consult with researchers, faculty, and departments on security risks and controls for the data, technology, and vendors they use within their projects. Her team also manages the annual information security self-assessment across the University, coordinates the annual review process for the Information Security Policy, and produces the awareness campaign and training content. In her role on the HarvardWIT (Women in Technology) Task Force, Sandy leads a working group that is creating an IT-wide mentoring program.

Jeffrey Schiller – MIT

Jeff has spent his entire 40+ year career at MIT where he studied and then became a member of the staff. He is also one of the earliest members of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and a member of its leadership team for 9 years, specializing in the Security Area. After spending 26 years running MIT Network Operations, he now works with the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) both with the MIT App Inventor project (http://appinventor.mit.edu) and the Internet Policy Research Initiative (https://internetpolicy.mit.edu/). Jeff’s primary interests revolve around security and privacy both within computing and networking and high availability operations with minimal staff.

Dan Flynn  Boston University

Dan Flynn currently works for Client Services & Support in the Desktop Engineering group.  He has worked at BU for 8 years both on the Charles River Campus and the Medical Campus. His responsibilities include administering the University’s VDI environment, providing desktop support, and engineering of internal CS&S services.  He is the technical lead for Windows imaging and a long time member of the Kace Asset Management team.  Dan graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS in Business Administration and a minor in Managing Information Systems

Craig Vincent – Splunk

Craig Vincent is a Solution Engineer and Regional Security Subject Matter at Splunk. After joining Splunk, Craig has supported customers in Higher Education, Healthcare, and State & Local Government. Prior to Splunk, Craig held a security research role at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association and worked in the Security Operation Center at Mandiant, acquired by FireEye, Inc. Based in the DC area, Craig’s technical passions include security, containerization, automation, and program management. Craig holds a B.S.E in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Duke University
