Pat Cain – Cooper-Cain Group
Pat Cain of the Cooper-Cain Group, is a security consultant that has supported many fine local institutions as they improve their security posture. He is currently keeping multiple Arcsight, snort, bro, and VPN installations functioning at multiple universities; is playing with elasticsearch for large event log storage; and spends his free time as an APWG fraud-fighter.
Nick Lewis – Internet2
Nick Lewis (CISSP) is a Program Manager for Security and Identity at Internet2, where he manages the NET+ security and identity services portfolio, while also contributing to the development of new NET+ offerings in cloud security. Nick rejoined Internet2 in 2015, after previously working here from 2002-2007. Nick has also held positions in information security at the University of Michigan and most recently was Director of IT and Information Security Officer at Saint Louis University. He has also worked for Children’s Hospital Boston as an Information Security Manager and Michigan State University as an Information Technologist. Nick holds masters degrees in information assurance from Norwich University and telecommunications from Michigan State University.
Dmitri Pal– IdM portfolio Red Hat, Inc.
Dmitri Pal is an Engineering Director at Red Hat. He is responsible for the identity management projects and products that include Directory Server, Certificate System, Samba, Kerberos, SSSD (System Security Services Daemon), and IdM server leveraging FreeIPA (Identity, Policy, Audit) technology. Dmitri has more than eighteen years of security related software engineering and product management experience in different roles. Dmitri serves as a Red Hat representative on the MIT Kerberos Consortium board of directors.

Nick Levay – Bit9
Nick Levay has fifteen years of experience building enterprise infrastructure and managing security programs. He has worked in diverse industries including cybersecurity companies, Internet service providers, and public policy think-tanks. Beyond cybersecurity, his background includes experience with press relations, sales, support, professional services, and public speaking. He has provided council on cybersecurity matters to journalists, security practitioners, law enforcement, and government officials.
Doug Pearson – REN-ISAC
Doug is the Technical Director of the REN-ISAC (Research and Education Networking Information Sharing and Analysis Center).
Melissa Muth – University of Pennsylvania
Melissa Muth has been a Senior Information Security Analyst with Information Systems & Computing at the University of Pennsylvania for the past 7 years. She has over 15 years of experience as an application developer, database administrator, UNIX systems administrator, and IT director responsible for email, authentication, network infrastructure services, and VoIP.
In 2010, Melissa developed a popular and successful pilot DNS sinkhole service (SafeDNS) which went into production in 2015 and has 35,000 clients. Currently Melissa manages information security projects, and loves automating incident response wherever possible. Right now, she is developing network analytics capabilities to detect compromised hosts and accounts using Bro and intelligence feeds. Her dream is to discern malicious activity using machine learning techniques.
Melissa has given numerous talks about topics including VoIP security, web application security, two-factor authentication, and DNS sinkholing at ACUTA, EDUCAUSE-MARC, and EDUCAUSE-SPC. She was an invited speaker at the 2013 Cyber Security Conference for Maryland Higher Education and State Agencies. Melissa obtained a GIAC GPEN certification in 2011 and a Project Management Professional certification in 2008. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
