Cost: No charge for existing service. If additional security access points are needed, please submit a service request. Costs will be determined on individual case basis.

Building Security Access Control Systems provide security to buildings on campus through centralized card access control using BU Terrier Card. The service allows departments and BUPD to control access to spaces based on level of authorization.

Provides a safe and secure environment to BU buildings for faculty, staff, students, and others requiring access. Provides mechanism to report on all cardholders activity.

  • Allows BU departments to control who can access secured spaces
  • Allows BU to secure high security spaces
  • Allows central administration to control campus-wide access for first responders and others as required (ex. facilities)
  • Allows BU Police to centrally remove access when necessary
  • Allows BU Police to centrally execute campus-wide lock down for buildings secured by the system
  • Provides audit data on card access users and locations as needed

What to Expect

This service normally will be available 24 by 7 except for standard change windows, as described in IS&T’s standard policies, procedures, and schedules for making changes.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid BU provided access card (Terrier Card)

Getting Started

  • With valid Terrier card, access clearance can be assigned through local department administrators by request.
  • Local Systems Administrators can request system support from Building Security Systems by contacting us.
  • Entities that would like to get a card reader installed to secure their area should contact us for a consultation.
