263798 – Outsource Student Email Investigate, recommend, and implement a new email provider for student email. Email has become a commodity service and inhouse systems are expensive to maintain when it comes to maintenance, storage and security.  We are looking to outsource this service to a more robust service with larger storage capabilities. No need to keep storage and no maintaining the interface once everyone is up.  The number one benefit is the cost savings and with that savings we can put it to great use on other inhouse projects.

949871 – Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Program Replace a small number of staff PCs with thin clients as a pilot.  Replace some kiosks with thin clients; replace desktops in some training rooms with thin clients.   Processing and storage are handled by a central server so that the burden of installation and workstation management is greatly reduced.  Software installation, updating and removal is easier as it is located in one place.  Changes can be made quicker and rolled out over a larger audience.  Thin clients do not contain a hard drive, processor or video card which makes them greener as they use less power then the conventional workstation Gup, Peggy
